Great Story

Timothy Long has written a great story and the series is called Z-Risen. What can I say, I’m a sucker for dry and sarcastic humor. And Timothy delivers in Outbreak through the main characters Machinist Mate First Class Jackson Creed and Marine Sergeant Joel ‘Cruze’ Kelly. The story begins on the USS McClusky, the ship Creed and Kelly were stationed on. It unfolds in a first person POV and that person is Creed, a character you can’t help but root for. Fast paced and action packed, this series is one to read.

So far so good

So far so good. Timothy has not disappointed me with book 2 of the Z-Risen series, Outcast. In fact, he just made the story better by introducing love interests to our two main characters and a dog. Kickass women rock. He maintains a steady flow of action with zombie encounters as well as living breathers–more pain in the ass than the zombies. You either love or hate these characters, but you will definitely want to read to the end to find out what happens to them.

Awesome

Dead to Us: Alaska takes place several years after the climatic ending in book 6, season 1. Having survived the nuke, City goes off  in search of Alex in hopes of convincing him to hand over Madison in hopes of the government creating a cure for the Z virus out of her DNA.. It was a reunion of all the great characters in the first six episodes. The ending leaves an opening for more installments to come.

Exciting

With the death of his friend Troy, City starts to understand that perhaps the only way to find a cure and save the remnants of survivors is to indeed give up Madison, the child he and Alex had saved and were trying to protect. But Alex can’t just hand over Madison and allow her to be taken to a lab to be experimented on. With human life hanging on the balance, City must make a choice and stand firm. But is it too late?

And the story continues…

This was a sad installment with reason. With hope in his heart to cure his ailing friend Troy, City tries an unproven experiment at killing the Z virus by freezing it. Sadly, Troy turns and the consequences rattle City to the core. However, this incident reaffirms his goal in finding a cure. Little did he know that the cure was under his nose this whole time. Literally.

Fun

In episode 4, we continue with City in his quest to find a cure and help as many people as possible, I am amazed how his unwillingness to kill a living person hasn’t gotten him killed. I understand his reasoning, but he is still annoying. Another character that was annoying to boot was introduced in the last book, Ivy. She is the female version of City. So much so, that she doesn’t even want to kill animals. Hell, is that even realistic during an apocalypse? The series hasn’t lost its fun factor, and the annoying characters add extra challenges for those around them trying to survive.
