Wow

Without My Consent is a potent memoir about a courageous woman who survives being a victim of rape and the struggles she faces afterwards on a daily basis. No woman should have to go through this, but if you have, just know you are not alone AND IT WAS NOT YOUR FAULT. This story will instill strength and courage to all who reads it.

An Unreal, Eye-opening Read

Black Lives Matter: From Holocaust to Lynching to Liberation is an unreal, eye-opening read. It is full of information that readers may or may not know. It saddens me how one human being can mistreat another human being this way. This book represents a part of history that should NEVER be forgotten. Everyone should read this book at least once.

Another great book

I accepted this book with hesitancy. I was unsure if I would like the storyline, but I decided to give it a try since I love reading Aya Walksfar’s other books.  I am happy to say that I enjoyed this book as much as her other books. Run or Die is about the touchy topic of racism. It will make you angry then make you cry. But in the end, it will leave you with a smile on your face. Another great book by a great author.

A Naughty Thing Called Life by Papa Spyk

A Naughty Shame

A Naughty Thing Called Life is a naughty shame.  I say this because the author, Papa Spyk, had the world in the palm of his hand and threw it all away for drugs.  I believe drugs are the root to many of the evils that happen in our world today, and sadly, Papa Spyk fell into the same trap as many others. The situations he experienced due to his involvement with drugs are both crazy and unbelievable. You would think a person would change after going to jail and getting into a fight, or having a near death experience. But, unfortunately, some life lessons are not easily learned. And many NEVER learn them. I truly hope Spyk has finally learned his lesson and focuses on his beautiful daughter Angelyna and living a clean, healthy life. For a true motivating and inspiring read —fiction or not—A Naughty Thing Called Life is the book to read.

Raw and Poignant

Don’t Hit Me! by Vanessa de Largie is a bold, raw, in your face compilation of dairy entries based on two years of surviving mental and physical abuse from her significant other. Whether we know someone or of someone who is in this situation, perhaps you are in this situation, in any case, ALL women should read this book. Men should read this book to obtain an inside view at how their actions make women feel. Kudos to Vanessa for finding the courage to leave that relationship and for sharing her story with the world.

I received an ARC of this book for an honest review.

This is my first young adult contemporary book I have ever read. I am more of a horror gal. Still I enjoyed this book.  I had feared it would be dull and boring, but not at all. The characters were all well developed. The storyline flowed flawlessly.  Your interest is kept from beginning to end. A book well worth the read.

Trauma Junkie by Tom Hobbs has become one of my favorite books.  The characters were fully developed and very likable.   The plot was packed with EMT emergencies and personal life drama.  As a New Yorker, I loved how the book was set in my neck of the woods.  The humor was just right, not too much or too little.  I truly loved this book, and I did not want it to end.  I definitely recommend this book to everyone.

A cliffhanger?!  NOOOO!

Why are you doing this to your fans?!  Book 5 of the Trauma Junkie series definitely stands up to its predecessors.  As if having a great plot and lovable characters wouldn’t keep you coming back for more, Tom Hobbs ends book 5 with a gripping cliffhanger that will ensure sales for his next book.  I can only hope that book 6 will be on sale soon.  Please hurry, Tom!

Trauma Junkie #4: Ghosts Of Bellevue Past by Tom Hobbs

Trauma Junkie #4 (Ghosts of Bellevue Past) is exactly what I expected—funny and full of drama.  The Trauma Junkie series revolves around the life of EMT Brian Sheahan. This brilliant guy has the mouth of a sailor, but the heart of gold. With his smartass comments, Brian quickly became #1 in my favorite hero list. How many series can you list where the following books are as awesome as the first book? The Trauma Junkie series is truly a series worth the read and your money.
