A Seacat’s Love Now on Sale!!

A Seacat's Love Image 1

In the first book of the Sea-anan Saga, A Lost Kitten, readers meet John McCall. The second book, A Forgotten Kitten, features Areo McCall. Both of these intriguing protagonists are children of an intergalactic marriage. Now, fans of the saga will be thrilled to learn the story of how their parents get together.

A Seacat’s Love takes readers back in time to planet Earth, where Rick McCall is committed to living the lonely life of a government spy after losing his wife and unborn daughter due to his own arrogance and poor decisions.

Leonora, one of the top scientists on the planet of Oceana and a high-ranking Seacat Warrior, is a humanoid feline who has come to Earth to study human evolution and find similarities between earthlings and oceanans. But her expedition’s camp is stormed by the human army.

Rick and Leonora first encounter each other at a secret military lab during the cat woman’s attempt to escape her captors. When she collides with Rick in a corridor, Leonora begs for his help, claiming that the government has been experimenting on her, and one look into the frightened feline’s pale-blue eyes is enough to stir the hardened spy’s heart. For Leonora, the spark ignites in her chest after Rick dares to defy his government and his own commanding officer to aid her and her colleague Tigif. She recognizes the nobility in this selfless act of helping strangers—aliens from another world, no less!

Now committed to helping Leonora and Tigif remain safely out of the clutches of a wrongful government and find a way back to their home planet, Rick faces many difficult choices—but he doesn’t want to repeat the past and make another devastatingly wrong decision. His relationship with Leonora grows in fits and starts, constantly undermined by Tigif’s devious plots, and Leonora is threatened by Tigif’s increasingly forceful advances. As they avoid a massive government dragnet, fight off dangerous feline fevers, and try to retrieve the aliens’ ship, heated emotions of jealousy, distrust, and resentment that arise in the confusion put their very lives in jeopardy.

Author Jessica Kong seamlessly blends multiple themes into her Sea-anan Saga and Oceanan Trilogy books, including loyalty, racism, family, and love. In A Seacat’s Love, the theme of multiracial relationships is particularly prominent, where the difference in race between the two protagonists is exaggerated to galactic proportions. As in all of the volumes in the series, this book shows how fundamentally similar we all really are when it comes to our basic needs, desires, and even cultures.

But readers don’t have to be fans of the saga to enjoy A Seacat’s Love. The novel stands on its own as an exciting and exotic science-fiction action-romance. Though it is an adult-content book, it is written in simple language that is easy to read—and even easier to get caught up in. Its cross appeal to science-fiction enthusiasts, romance lovers, action-adventure fans, and anyone who enjoys exploring human nature through the lens of creative imagination makes it attractive to a wide audience.

Link By Link, Chain By Chain Welcome To This Blog Chain

Welcome to the Sea-anan Empire

Chainlink 3

I was invited to take part in the Writing Process Blog Chain by author Ed Hoornaert.  In this blog chain, writers will share information about their writing process by answering four questions.  Now that the chain has been passed to me, below you will find a quick introduction to who I am, the books I have written, plus the answers to those questions.

Image 1

I am an avid reader of all things fantasy, futuristic, and paranormal. When I am not reading or writing, I enjoy puzzles, arts and crafts, crocheting, horror movies, and video games. I created the Sea-anan Saga out of inspiration provided by my love for movies like Star Wars and Deep Space Nine, along with an avid appreciation of romance novels. I make my home in Somerset, New Jersey, with my loving husband of twenty-one years and our teenaged triplets.

1) What am I working on?  At the present, I am working on the first installment to the Oceanan Trilogy called, “A Seacat’s Love”.  The Oceanan Series is about four couples.  I show how they meet and how they overcome racial barriers while they become the closest of friends. These four couples are the founders of the Sea-anan Empire.  Their children are the main characters in my Sea-anan Saga.

2) How does my work differ from others of its genre?  My books combine different genres—fantasy, paranormal, science fiction and romance.  I also combine several themes found in books— space travel, war, love, family, and even racism.  Like the characters themselves, my books are hybrids.

3) Why do I write what I do?  Because I love to.  I cannot think of any other career that can give me the sense of satisfaction that writing does.  The genres I write are a natural fit for me.  I do not write hard core Science Fiction or Fantasy novels.  That is not me.  My passion to write comes from all of the genres, that is why I include a bit of each in my books.

4) How does my writing process work?  First, I get my beer mug of coffee.  Yeap, a ‘BIG’ beer mug.  I then sit in front of my laptop and place my motivational images on my computer.  While I stare at the pictures, hovering over my coffee, I begin to see the couple in my head.  I allow their back-story to come alive.  Once I know my characters well, I then let them tell me how they meet and fall in love.  Throughout this process, I am jotting my notes down. It’s a rough sketch that I later flesh out.

A Lost Kitten = Front Cover

Seacat John McCall labels the attack on the Sea-anan Empire as a nightmare. He escapes the enemy’s invasion, only to find himself stranded on a distant planet called Surreal. Tormented by thoughts of his family being massacred or captured by the enemy, he focuses on returning to aid them until he experiences a mind-boggling kiss that can only come from the one he is meant to share his life with. To ease the terror he feels for his family, John seeks the identity of his secret admirer. He quickly learns the true meaning of nightmare when he discovers his soul mate is of “the mist.”

Jasira Eversole is drawn to the powerfully built outlander sitting at the king’s table. Unable to resist the need to see him again, she enters the warrior’s room while he sleeps. John’s rugged good looks and chiseled body compel Jasira to reach out and touch him. Being of the mist, Jasira knows she will not be able to feel John, but she cannot resist his pull. The richness of John’s hair, the firmness of his muscles, and the clean scent of his skin all take Jasira off guard. She swiftly realizes John is her intended mate. Now, Jasira must somehow convince the young warrior that they are two halves of one soul without chasing him off Surreal, leaving her to a lonely existence as mist.

A Forgotten Kitten front cover

Picking up from where the first installment of the series, A Lost Kitten, left off, the second installment in the fast-paced Sea-anan Saga by Jessica A. Kong explains the reasoning behind the creation of the law that forbids felines to permanently join with aliens.

This law creates the main conflict that exists between Sev, the reigning king of the Oceanan race, and his soulmate, Areo, of the human-feline hybrids. Sev is raised in the midst of a vicious family feud, but all seems worth it when his adoptive aunt gives birth to a beautiful little girl, Areo, whom Sev falls instantly and irrevocably in love with. But when Sev’s planet collides with its own sun and collapses, he must bear the loss of his entire family, including his love as well as any memory of her.

When Areo’s empire is brutally attacked, everyone is scattered throughout the universe. Where does she land but the planet that Sev is currently occupying. What follows is a continually building conflict interlaced with one of the most fervently passionate love stories seen in these kinds of novels.

Author Jessica A. Kong chooses not just to write about space travel, or war, or love, or family, or even racism; instead, she chooses to combine all of these classic literary themes into one amazing story. The result is a mysterious and ultimately deeply satisfying story that only leads to the craving for more from this gifted and astoundingly creative writer.

As I had mention previously, I was asked to participate in this Blog Hop by Ed Hoornaert

Ed's image

Ed Hoornaert is not only a romance writer, he’s also a certifiable Harlequin Hero, having inspired multi-published author Vicki Lewis Thompson to write Mr. Valentine, which was dedicated to him. These days he writes mostly science fiction—either sf romances, or sf with strong elements of romance. He lives in Tucson, Arizona with his high school sweetheart, whom he married a week after graduation. His four children have all fluttered out of the nest, leaving behind a cat which, unlike some famous author’s cats, is of absolutely no help in writing.

In late February, the second book in the Tompa Lee trilogy will become available:

  • The Trial of Tompa Lee (currently available) — Tompa Lee, a street girl who has clawed her way up to the bottom rungs of the Commerce Space Navy, becomes a pawn in interplanetary intrigue when she is framed for murder on an alien planet.  Facing a trial by combat against 300 accusers, can Tompa learn to trust—and love—not only an alien, but also the policeman who arrested her?
  • The Tribulations of Tompa Lee (February 28) – Tompa is named ambassador to Zee Shode, but the lizard-like Klicks strike back, destroying the embassy and chasing Tompa across a wildlife preserve filled with deadly predators—and a sexy, oboe-playing secret agent.  Can Tompa’s courage, love, and self-sacrifice conquer even Klick hearts?

I would like to now introduce to you the three authors to whom I will be passing the chain to.

Brenda's new Book cover

Brenda Perlin
is an independent adult contemporary fiction author.   Brenda evokes emotional responses in her readers by using a provocatively unique writing style.   Her latest book in the Brooklyn and Bo Chronicles, captures the soul-wrenching conflicts of a personal struggle for emotional fulfillment.

Ever since Brenda was a child, she has been fascinated with writing.  She draws her biggest inspiration from Judy Blume.  This sparked a passion in Brenda to pursue personal expression through writing.  Once she was old enough to go to coffee shops alone, Brenda recalls losing herself in the world of writing, all while documenting her ideas on paper napkins.

“There is really no creative process, I just write,” – Brenda Perlin

Brenda’s first book, Brooklyn and Bo Chronicles, was published with Master Koda Select Publishing.   Within a short time, the book developed a strong fan base and is continuing to grow as it both entertains its readers and leaves them in a state of profound reflection.  In the near future, Brenda would like to have Brooklyn and Bo Chronicles expanded into a trilogy in order to tell the untold stories of her characters.

In Shattered Reality: The Brooklyn and Bo Chronicles we learn what shaped Brooklyn, the trials of an unhappy marriage and a deep abiding love that would not be denied. We meet a troubled, spiteful wife, who does not want to become an “ex”.

Passion Killer book image
If your ex lover and best friend was accused of killing your boyfriend would you stand up for him? Would your friends stand by you?

Passion Killer is a story of how unrequited love, jealousy and obsession become dangerous, turning passion to murder. It revolves around a group of friends in a small town in Ireland.  Sylvia arrives home one evening to find her boyfriend, Rick, in a pool of blood. In the course of their investigation, Detectives Barbara Molloy and Mick Naughton question the group of friends and uncover a web of deception. A party the night before the murder left many fingerprints at the scene of the crime. In the tangle of love triangles there are plenty of motives to choose from and few alibis, casting the net of suspicion wide.

As the story unfolds, the friends discover secrets and lies that test their relationships to the point of breaking. In order to cast suspicion away from one of their best friends, Alex, the group start to suspect a myriad of acquaintances. Will they succeed in finding out who killed Rick before Alex is put away for something he didn’t do? Or will they find out that Alex isn’t who they thought he was?

zach's Image 1
After a successful career in business and finance, Zach Abrams has relatively recently started writing novels. (Compared to business plans and tax returns, he believes it’s a more honourable form of fiction.)

His first novel Ring Fenced was published in November 2011 and this is a crime story with a difference as the underlying theme is obsession tinged with power, control and how they are used and abused.

This novel was followed by a collaboration with Elly Grant to produce ‘Twists and Turns’ a book of short stories and flash fiction.

Zach’s second novel Made a Killing is the first of a series of Alex Warren murder mysteries (published in November 2012) and this has been followed by A Measure of Trouble (August 2013). Zach has very recently completed ‘Source; Greed, Power, Revenge, or is it Economic Terrorism’ – a novel based on investigative journalism.

Alike his central character in Ring Fenced, (Bemjamin Short), Zach Abrams grew up within an orthodox Jewish family. He completed his education in Scotland and went on to a career in business and finance. He is married with two children. He plays no instruments and has an eclectic taste in music, although not as obsessive as Benjamin. Unlike Benjamin, he does not maintain mistresses, write pornography and (sadly) he does not have ownership of such a wealthy company. He is not a sociopath (at least by his own reckoning) and all versions of his life are aware of and freely communicate with each other. More in keeping with Alex Warren, he and his family reside in the south side of Glasgow.

Chief Executive, Hector Mathewson is found dead within the cask room of his own distillery. DCI Alex Warren needs to balance his own turbulent personal life while directing the hunt for the murderer. Review extracts ‘Great dialogue, unique plot and clever humour. A Measure of Trouble is a book with such a generous helping of twists that it make for a total page turner.’ • ‘until Zach came around, I never actually read a mystery before. I’m so happy that my introduction to this genre was by this talented author’ • ‘Abrams has a wonderful capacity to bring readers into the personal lives of Alex and Sandra, which are full-blooded and sympathetic characters struggling with issues’ • ‘this novel is well written, well-structured and, what I really enjoyed about it, the plot develops on several levels and the characters and events are frequently presented with a dry sense of humour, which makes it hard to put this novel down’ Laced with humour, ‘A Measure of Trouble’ is an entertaining novel, Zach Abram’s sequel to Made a Killing.  Also by Zach Abrams – Ring Fenced, The Source – co-author of Twists and Turns

Zoe Forward lives in the South with her supportive family and an assortment of pets. She has a special love for archaeology, especially anything Egyptian. A deep part of her wishes she had a career that would have her at a dig site in a sandy country. But she is a small animal veterinarian, caring for everything from chinchillas to dogs…and there was even one hermit crab in there.

Hold on to your seat.  The long awaited cover reveal is here!

After an unjustified two-century stint in purgatory, Scimitar Magus Dakar returns to the human realm, renewing his eons-old curse. Once again he must murder the woman he loves. To break the vicious cycle, he must kill her before she strikes her deathblow, something he’s never done in the past.

Archaeology grad student, Shay McGinnis, suffers a near-death attack in pursuit of a piece of Scimitar Magi lore.  But did the magnificent warrior who pinned her to the wall injure her or the daemon he fought?  In her search for answers, she draws the attention of both an ancient evil sorcerer and the warrior Dakar. The attraction between her and Dakar is instant, and for Shay confusing. She wants to be with him, but intuition equates him with death. Not random death. Hers.

Will this be the lifetime they break the curse before they are murdered by an age old enemy or worse kill each other yet again?

Excerpt

Shay’s brain ordered her body to make a break for it, or at least let loose a scream to draw attention, but she stood there, dazed and staring. It was the throw-your-panties-off-gorgeous bad boy from her hotel room.

My God, this guy was a brick shithouse oozing don’t-screw-with-me vibes. And didn’t that just make her knees weak. She was so not a swooning type of girl.

Despite the warmth of the day, he wore a knee-length black leather jacket. No doubt, he was armed out the wazoo beneath it.

He subjected her to a scrutinizing once-over. A swirling black substance in his irises mesmerized her. She hadn’t noticed that last night.

What was this guy? Definitely not completely human. A month ago, she would’ve rationalized the sludgy black substance obscuring the real color of his irises into normalcy and remained in complete denial of anything amiss.

She wondered if this guy might just be the real deal–one of those mythical, sorcerer-like immortals obligated to fight daemons for all eternity. A Scimitar Magus. Shouldn’t he be a good guy? A hero figure? Why then did her intuition demand immediate evasion? For some reason, her gut equated this guy with death, but not random death. Hers.
